The moment you get engaged is a big moment and you’ll want to shout out the news from the rooftops! However, you should make sure to tell your immediate family and closest friends about it personally before you post about it. They’ll want to hear it from you and not from a website where lots of people will find out about it at the same time. Think about your relationship with them and make the announcement as special as the proposal.
2) Tell Your Photographer If You Have Any Preferences About What They Post On Their Page

Your photographer will want to use your photos on their page to promote their work. However, some couples are more private and don’t want certain pictures with PDA or certain parts of their ceremony put on social media for various reasons. Your photographer will likely have a contract or waiver discussing the use of your photos, but all the same it is a good idea to broach the topic with them so that you’re on the same page.
3) Create A Wedding Hashtag To Keep Track Of All The Photos Your Guests Take
Every single guest at your wedding will be taking photos all night. You’re going to want to see them all but it can be hectic trying to keep up with all the pictures everyone took. A wedding hashtag can help with that! If you create a hashtag and implore your guests to use it when they post, it’s like a built in keyword so you can search for all of your wedding photos. It’s a great way to keep things organized, which is the most important thing when it comes to wedding planning.
4) Have A Social Media Minute To Make Guests More Amenable To An Unplugged Ceremony

Nowadays, it’s very common for couples to have an unplugged ceremony, unbothered by cell phones. This doesn’t always go over well with guests, who want to capture this special moment in the couples life. However, if you have a social media minute, one minute at the altar where you give the guests their phones and let them take as many pictures as they want for that one minute before putting them away again, this is a great compromise that most can live with.
5) Don’t Focus On Social Media During Your Big Day, Focus on each other
It will be tempting for you to take your phone and snap photos of your outfit, photos with loved ones, and post your excitement about finally getting married. However, if you did that you may miss the whole celebration! Try to resist using your phone at all during your ceremony. Better yet, give your phone to a trusted family member or friend and have them take photos or monitor it for you so all you have to do is have fun!
